need help with an egg drop contest?
i'm having an egg drop for engineering class and i'm having a little trouble because the last 2 prototypes i made failed badly. the egg is going to be dropped from 12 feet. There is alot of constraints for the project so check out the materials and give me some good ideas, thanks anon
1.5 Paper Straws. 15” long and ¼” in diameter
2.4 Balsa Wood Sticks12” long and 1/16” in cross section
3.1 Index Card 5” X 8”
4.1 Foam Block 1” X 2” X 2”
5.5 Rubber Bands 3” loops
6.1 Balloon Can be blown up to 8” in diameter
7.2 Masking Tape Strips10” long ¾” wide
you need a lot of material that absorbs the energy of the egg drop, so it doesnt break. Use the paper straws as the first thing the egg falls on like a nest. use the ballon under it some how with the foam blocks glued to it( the balloon, covering it) tape the wooden sticks to the bottom of the balloon as a base. and have the rubber bands as the first thing the egg impacts with along wiht the straws in the nest on the top of the balloon the index card can be used in the nest thing too.( the top)
