How can i get my Canon MP180 printer to accept refilled cartridges on my Mac?
I purchased some refilled cartridges and they came with instructions to disable some drivers on your PC so that the printer would accept the cartridges. But it didn't have any instructions for the same on Mac. The cartridges worked for two uses and then a 'Check Ink U051 BLK COL' error message appeared and now it won't print at all.
I've tried the following suggested method but with no joy.
Most printers have some sort of 'maintenance mode' code you can set that over-ride the stupid out of ink detect.
You will have to check the forums for your particular model (search for 'override canon mp180 out of ink' turned up link below == looks like it might help, but I can't be bothered to read through it ..)

Hold the resume/reset button down for a fair few seconds and this usually overrides the message - it will make a sort of loud click sound when achieved.
In my experinece all that other stuff of pressing the power button at same time is not neccessary. Hold the resume down hard for what goes seem like an age and then it will click.
The resume button is usually a small button with a red triangle and circle in it. The manual should tell you which is the correct one though.
