Rubber Stamping/Embossing question?

I have never stamped before and don't quite know how to begin. If I use embossing powder on a stamp, do I need a specific type of ink? I noticed that there are several types and I don't know if I need dye based vs. pigment based, etc. Also, is it as easy as sprinkling the powder on the wet ink and using a heating tool??

You should use clear embossing ink, which you can find at your local craft store (Michael's, etc).

And, yes it is that easy. Place your stamp on the clear embossing ink pad, then stamp your paper or whatever you are using ... sprinkle a small pile of powder over the ink and sort of tap it around to cover all of the ink. Then carefully shake the rest of the excess powder off your page and apply the heating tool. When using the heating tool, be careful not to put it too close to the embossing ink and be patient. If you are not careful, the embossing ink can dry up and make small burn marks on your paper. It takes a minute to heat up and you will begin to notice a little bubbling of the ink until it changes.
