I have a Verizon razr v3m and i want to get music on it without the essentials kit. i have a usb that fits it?
I have the Verizon Wireless V3M. (The music razr with nav and everything) I want to get music on it via the computer and Vcast online store through USB and stuff. I have a usb cable that fits the phone perfectly that is from a TI-84 calculator. Can anybody tell me how to do it?
To the best of my knowledge, you can't. Unless something changed in the last couple of months, with the way the RAZR is set up, the USB cable is basically useless to you - unless you plan to use it to synchronize contacts with the Motorola contact manager software (I didn't bother).
As far as transferring sound and image files goes, the only way to do it is wirelessly...you have to use the www.vzwpix.com site. It's free and all, but it can be a pain in the ass when you think about the RAZR pretty much being designed to do all these cool little multimedia features. Verizon really stripped the software down and made it difficult (not impossible) for the end user to get around paying $3 every time ya want a new ringtone.
Unfortunately, with all the software out there, I have only found ONE utility for making my own ringtones with any success - DJToneXpress - and even it, according to its makers, is somewhat buggy with Verizon's system. It was well worth the $10 or $12 I paid for it though - and is a steal, price wise if you consider that you can also make ringtones for friends and send them directly to their phones... Most of the ringtones I have made have been just fine - I sometimes have problems with it wanting to cut off the end of what I've recorded, but that's easy enough to deal with... Also,I can send them on to other Verizon users. The format doesn't seem compatible with any other carrier though - even with users on RAZRs with other companies. *shrug*
For images, you can send them to the website via the phone - just use the "send to pix place" option. To send yourself wallpaper, upload the images you want to use from your computer via the www.vzwpix.com website and send them wirelessly to the phone.
In the end the USB cable is pretty pointless - which sucks since I bought mine after-market and didn't know it until I had it in hand - with no way to make it useful...
