Is Borderlands any good?!?
I'm looking into getting Borderlands, but I'm a bit skeptical. Is it any fun? What is the character and weapon customization like? Or do you just play premade characters? How does the online play work? Ahhh!

I'm playing on the PC, so I don't know if I have a different gameplay experience than people on the consoles but I love the game, personally. The creators really put a lot of thought into this game and it shows. The presentation is really good, there's lots of humor, the voice acting is cool, the graphics are pretty sweet, and the co-op is fun.
Character customization is pretty good, I mean you play with these strict archetypes but there is a lot of room for interpretation in terms of play style due to talents you pick (like talent trees which are now the norm in RPGs). Also, you can change the colors and name of your character as much as you want.
There are literally millions of weapons for the game, and there's different quality like white, green, blue, purple, etc. I'm playing as a Siren right now, level 20. It's kind of like a cross between a rogue and a mage class. My weapon specialty is elemental rounds (fire, electric, explosive, corrosive,). Also, when I go stealth I do an AoE and while I'm stealth if I pass by enemies I leave a DoT on them, when I come out of stealth I do another AoE and I take reduced damage for a few seconds. So I can run behind enemy lines and DoT everything up, then put myself in a cluster and AoE them, then fade away back to my team while I'm shooting them in the face with my submachine gun with incendiary rounds. It's fun gameplay.
Online play you can see what level the game is, and what quest they are doing, and you just join in. Enemies get tougher the more people that are in the game (4 max) but you get better drops. You'll want to stick with your level range because if your weapons are low level you will barely scratch the higher level guys no matter how awesome your gun is.
I really like the game and I'll continue to play it even after the MW2 release (I'll be playing that as well)
