What is the spiritual significance of a christian ignoring the question asked, but saying "god bless"?
I received this answer to an earlier question:
"It seems that the question bothered you. That says something now doesnt it? God Bless"
To me it seems MY question bothered him, that he's unable to answer it, and that he's trying to change the subject by implying something both rude and vague, and then adding those last two words just to be annoying.
When a christian adds the words "god bless" when addressing an atheist in a discussion, what does it mean, and what's the appropriate response?
Honestly, whenever someone has to end every communication, writing, letter, email, or post an answer on Y!A with the "Blessings to you" or "Have a blessed day" or "God bless"; its just further evidence that they've been so brainwashed and bible-beaten that they've turned what is supposed to be a phrase used sparingly, into a pedestrian expression.
The purpose of asking for blessings to someone else, is the concept of asking God to love another person as you do.
But if you use it all the time, then its just a mundane expression and worse yet, demonstrates that you have no capacity for actual, independent, critical thought.
In short, you're telling these people that the only response to anything in life is whatever they can cite from the Bible, and they have no other solutions because they have no mind of their own.
Now I'm not saying this to be critical of Christians or any religious people. But there are limits to how far you can shove religion up someone's backside when they don't want it; and sooner or later even the most sheepish of sheeple have to realize that they don't even understand half the stuff they spout.
Ending things with a "blessings" chant basically says to me they have no clue.
