How much PSI can I put in a 2 footlong 2" PVC pipe?

I am using a Schwinn Air Driver 1100 Deluxe Floor Pump with Gauge, and the gauge reads 165 but can I actually put 165 PSI into this 2 footlong 2" PVC pipe? I haven't tried it because my friend has the pump and our project is due tomorrow. Ok what we made was a tennis ball launcher with a air release valve and I need to put at least 70 PSI into this PVC pipe to get a good result, and I want to know if it is possible to put that much pressure into the PVC pipe and how hard would it be....please help!
I drilled a hole into the pipe and have a pressure gauge and in another hole i drilled into it, I put a tire valve stem on it so I could just hook the pump to it and start pumping

2" Schedule 40 is rated at maximum 280 psi.
2" Schedule 80 is rated at maximum 400 psi.
These are maximum values - new pipe, in good condition.

A word of caution: You really need good and proper connections for all components involved with this experiment, or else there could be a serious accident.
