Childhood Memories for the Red Headed Stepchild?

So I was just curious, for all thoses natural redheads out there, how did you feel growing up about you hair color? Random I know but when I was younger I always wanted to dye my hair blonde because it's uniqueness always brought myself a lot of attention. Maybe I'm the only one who was self concious (not anymore I like it now) but I read a post somewhere for someone who felt the same. So did (or does) that difference in appearance affect you? Or did it not? Storytime anyone?
I meant I wanted to dye it blonde because the red hair is unique and I didn't feel like I fit in. I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same, growing up. I really like it now and wouldn't dye it for anything, but as a kid I didn't like being the oddball, the comments made weren't always happy ones.

That was how I felt going up also. My family always said how beautiful my hair color was but I hated it!!! All the kids and school would pick on me calling me carrot top and other ridiculous names. I really wanted to color my hair brown but my parents forbid it. So when I was 20 and living on my own I colored it dark brown. My friends and family hated it and soon I did too. It really wasn't me- I have now realized how special and beautiful my hair is and will not change it again.
Only 2% of the population are natural redheads -so we are pretty unique!!
