Hyper, reactive Collie?
We have a 1.5 year old Collie female. After I got her I had several medical emergencies and a death in the family last year so I did not get her out as much as I would have liked. We have started taking her out but she is terrified of everything and reacts to things with aggression barking pulling on her leash, lunging at other dogs and growling at people. When at home she is very high strung and paces all day unless I kennel her. Our old Sheltie just passed away and we are getting another Collie adult soon (calm, retired show dog well trained) for a playmate. How to I get her back on track? Just keep taking her out? I am afraid she might nip at someone. She just panics over everything.

She is only kenneled at night. I have been putting her in more recently just to get her to relax and rest and stop pacing. Exercise isn't helping and she is skin and bones.
She needs obedience classes just as soon as you can get her in because she desperately needs the socializing she missed. Please don't take her to Petsmart classes - you need a really qualified trainer who will be able to help this dog and not just treat her like an aggressive dog, but will recognize what's going on with her and help you get her out of this. Tell the instructor exactly why she's like she is and that she's spent way too much time kenneled and they'll be able to help you with her.
