How do I announce our wedding in Las Vegas w/o people feeling obligated to come?
I wanted to send out like a save the date announce the wedding in Vegas and the date. I know times are tough so I don't want our friends and family to feel obligated to come out if they can't afford it. I'm looking for opinions on the wording mostly. Thanks!
Really, you don't want a save the date - those are to announce a wedding a year or more in advance and tells people to expect an invitation down the road. If you want to invite people you'll want an invitation. You should treat it like any other invitation. Please don't minimize the importance of your wedding. I understand you don't want people to feel obligated but you also don't want them to think you feel obligated to invite them.
Use simpler, casual wording, and you can even find some 'cute' ideas - go to the wedding invitation websites. Most of them have a good variety of ideas.
You could consider something like
Jane and Joe have decided to roll the dice.
If you can join us it will be twice as nice
We would love to have you join us at our Las Vegas wedding
on date and time and location
