Router help please (:?
If I bought this.."Dynex 4-port 10/100 Mbps Wired Router DX-E402 NIB"
would I be able to connect two computers with it??? ..I think it's a plug and play design where I don't need to install any CDs because I want to use one network to connect my laptop (which has no disc drive) and my desktop..I have also read somewhere that I would have to set up a network..but that was not explained how to..help with that also please.
What is a crossover cable?? Is that the Ethernet cable? Because I have two separate ones for each computer..is that bad??
Yes it should work. Connect the WAN (a.k.a. internet) port to your cable modem or DSL router, and then your computers to the LAN ports on the router. Then, go into its config settings (often accessed by going to http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1) and make sure that DHCP and NAT are enabled on the LAN side, and then make sure the settings for your WAN side match your cable or DSL providers settings (i.e. DHCP (If dynamic), IP Address / Gateway / DNS (If static), and PPPoE (if required for your provider).
