How do I find out the value of my Disney movie collection?
I have spoken to my insurance agent, but he doesn't have an answer, I have called Disney, but they don't have an answer either. In the past I was told to look at ebay and see what I could get for each movie and then I would have a general idea of the collection's value. The reason I am looking is for insurance purposes.
Approx. 85% or more of the movies are still in the original wrap - never been viewed. The majority of movies are in clam shells, the remaining are in dvd format with the exception of one that is in beta format (Song of the South).
Each time a cover changes, I purchase the movie, so I have many duplicate movies, but all different covers.
If anyone could help, it w/b greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the only people who really make money on disney movies is of course Disney when they rerelease these vinage movies.
Generally, an unopened movie (wether dvd or tape-you just never know when buying a tape from someone if it will still work-heat and magnets can ruin these) will go for 15 to 20 dollars online for people who are searching for that particular movie. However, a garage sale would only earn around $5.00 for a movie.
MOST movies, generally lose their value as time goes on.
However, if you were lucky enough to happen upon a collector like yourself, they might pay you more for them. Here is an Amazon link for a disney group & there are some listings there as well. But really-you should check out ebay also-as that is where most collectors go to purchase items nowadays. SO GO THERE!!!! It is worth a try!!!!!
