can you choose not to have a stamp in your pets ears when they are desexed?
i have this cat that i got off a friend, shes a female and they say she is desexed but they didn't want a stamp in her ear.. so i'm confused because i thought all animals had to be stamped when desexed.. haha stupid question but it would help heaps! i want her to have kittens lol
Nope. It's not a requirement. Most vets will tattoo their ears, or sometimes the inside of the lip for dogs, when the animals are sedated for spaying or neutering. It's just an animal ID thing to help you recover them if they are ever lost and they do it at the same time to save you a few bucks. I mean, as long as the animal is under, may as well do both things.
Keep in mind that some vets may microchip but it's normally a tattoo in this situation since they can be awake for micro chipping.
