Can first day covers be used as a stamp envelope?
Ex. It already has a stamp on it so can you just put something inside it and send it or if it isn't enough cents to send it, can you just add more stamps?
The stamp is also cancelled too.
There are 2 things to consider when using older or collectible stamps for actual postage:
1. ALL stamps are legal tender for the purposes of sending mail, as long as they are UNUSED. This is regardless of the year, the denomination, whatever.
2. A first day cover would NOT be legal for postage since the stamp is already canceled. The very thing that makes a cover a First Day Cover is its First Day of Issue cancellation post-marked with the date of issue.
So, short answer - No, it is already canceled.
