Card making in the US?
I am trying to start a card making business (in the Philadelphia area) and when searching for supplies like nice embellishments, stickers, etc., I find the most variety online in the UK but not in the US? Does anyone have any suggestions of sites I can visit or undiscovered stores. We have the general stores such as Michaels, AC Moore, JoAnns, Walmart in the area, but I don't think they have as much to offer. I am looking for elegant, classy items. Any suggestions?
You need to work with wholesalers if you want to offer your cards at a reasonable price and make a profit. It doesn't make sense to buy everything at retail. If you don't know how to get started with that, then just look through a scrapbook or card-making or rubber stamp magazine and contact the company's whose products you like. Many of them will have wholesaler info on their websites or tell you what their requirements are over the phone. You might be surprised at how easy it can be with some vendors to buy at wholesale. And check out direct sales companies - most have high minimums to remain active and some restrict the use of their products in items for resale like your cards. The one I buy from has a super low min and let's you do whatever you want with their stuff so I know that it can be done.
