easiest and safest way to clean toddler toys (plush, plastic, rubber, wooden, etc).?

Disinfecting is the best way for plastic - bleach and water. Depending on where you're from - the suggested order may be different. Some places suggest you scrub and clean them with soap and water, then soak in a bleach and water solution, and then rinse with water. Others will say to rinse, and then bleach. Bleach evaporates faster than water - it does not leave a residue behind once it's dry, so you don't need to worry about that.

The other poster is right about wooden toys.

For plush animals wash with hot and dry, in a bag as suggested. You can place items that cannot be washed at all, in the freezer for atleast 24 (I do atleast 48) hours to kill any germs.

Some toys can be placed in the dishwasher as well to sanitize them.
