I am trying to determine the function and value of this old tool.?
This is a tool or machine we have that has been lying around our home for years. Nobody is sure what it is. We have been told it is used to crush garlic, but we are not sure. My mother believes it is some sort of stamp dispenser/cutter. It has a crank, and a two edged barrel shaped blade that spins in a cylinder. Various adjusting screws surrond the cylinder, and it has a clam to attatch it to a table or workbench. It is (discounting the crank, about 7 or 8 inches long. and perhaps 4 inches wide, made of iron, probably cast. The hadle is wooden and spins on a shaft. The inside of the cylinder has grooves or ridges cut into it, presumably to crush, grind or otherwise effect the substance pulled in by the revolving barrel blade. Here is a link to a photo album of pictures of the device:

(sorry about the quality, the pictures were made witha simple webcam.)
If anyone out there knows what this is, please write & tell me.
try sending better pics also with the item clamped to table to : www.thisoldhouse.com to see if they can identify it. theres a section on their website that says "ask this old house" . also my first impression of it was an old apple corer. - hard to tell. maybe you can ask at your local historical society ? good luck.
